Musical Quotes – Bumper Collection Post

We know that we’ve done yearbook quotes multiple times in this blog. And here we are again. In our defence, it’s one of the most searched for topics in relation to yearbook content and we get quizzed for ideas on it multiple times each week so we do like to spend a bit of time looking into the very best ideas to give back to you. Music is a seemingly endless goldmine of quote ideas, the chances are if there’s something you feel, it’s probably already in a song somewhere. From the profound and striking to the hilarious and downright ridiculous, we’ve combed through a variety of genres; from the mainstream to the deeply obscure to bring you another music quotes post. Enjoy!

Love or hate ’em, there’s no denying that when people burst into song sporadically, it’s usually something that sticks in your head.

The 70s

Honestly, I could have just listed the entire back catalogue of Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith.

The 80s

Okay, so we’re edging into territory that is memorable for a lot of us. I mean, who didn’t want to get a dodgy perm and run away to join Van Halen?

“And if this world runs out of lovers, we’ll still have each other, nothing’s gonna stop us” – Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, Starship

The 90s

As a thirty-something who grew up during the 90s, this should’ve been my decade, but I was stuck in the 80s with Van Halen and Bon Jovi so I had to rely heavily on others for the best quotes from the 90s.

“It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right, I hope you had the time of your life” – Good Riddance, Green Day

“I’d love to go back to when we played as kids, but things changed and that’s the way it is” – Changes, Tupac

“I get knocked down, but I get up again, you are never gonna keep me down” – Tubthumping, Chumbawamba

The 00s

Do you call it the zeroes? The noughties? Either way, some splendid rock and pop made this a treasure trove decade for lyrical genius.

“You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow, this opportunity comes once in a lifetime” – Lose Yourself, Eminem

“Live right now, just be yourself, it doesn’t matter if that’s good enough for someone else” – The Middle, Jimmy Eat World

“Shake it like a Polaroid picture!” – Hey Ya!, Outkast

“You are beautiful, no matter what they say” – Beautiful, Christina Aguilera

“Life is a rollercoaster, just gotta ride it” – Life Is A Rollercoaster, Ronan Keating

And Finally…

There’s always that one person in the yearbook who picks a quote that is silly, funny, irreverent, or all three. These suggestions are for you.

“I’ve been to the Year 3000, not much has changed but they live underwater” – Year 3000, Busted

“Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday; Today it is Friday, Friday” – Friday, Rebecca Black
