How to design leavers’ prom tickets

How to design leavers prom tickets using Yearbook Designer LiveLooking to wow your guests with professionally printed prom tickets? Using SPC’s Yearbook Designer Live online system, you can use one of our pre-designed prom template designs or create your own unique prom ticket design from scratch. Before you begin making your prom tickets, create a user account on our Yearbook Designer Live site http://online.spc-yearbooks.co.uk/site/startingout. Here are steps on how to achieve your perfect leavers’ prom tickets…

  1. Once signed in, click ‘Create Prom Tickets‘ on the left hand side on the ‘Home’ page.
  2. Once you’ve read through the information, click ‘Start creating prom tickets now!‘ at the top of the page.
  3. Here you’ll see previews of each pre-designed prom ticket (hover over each one to see an enlarged version). There’s also a blank ticket at the end if you would prefer to create your own unique design from scratch. See how to upload your own artwork to Yearbook Designer Live. Once you’ve chosen a design, click the preview to load the editor.
  4. As you move your mouse over the artwork in the editor, you’ll see highlighted boxes for each of the editable text fields. Click once on a text field to add your school name, price, etc. and once you’re happy with your prom ticket, hit ‘Save & Exit’ (the central button in the top right corner) to save your ticket in your ‘Projects’.
  5. When you’re ready to order your prom tickets, go to ‘Projects’ in the top navigation and click on your prom ticket project to open the editor. Click the trolley icon in the top right corner of the editor to begin the order process.
  6. Enter the quantity of prom tickets you require,  enter an ‘Authorisation Code‘ if you have one and hit ‘Checkout’.
  7. Add the address details of where you would like your prom tickets to be sent.
  8. Check over the ‘Order Confirmation‘ details, this is your last to chance to enter an ‘Authorisation Code’ if you have one. When you’re happy to proceed, hit ‘Proceed to Payment’.
  9. If you entered an ‘Authorisation Code’ then you’ll be taken to our thank you page. However, if you’re paying online then you’ll be taken to Paypal ready for your payment details to be entered.

What should I do next?
Please let SPC Yearbooks know that you’ve sent through an order by contacting yb@spc-yearbooks.co.uk or call 01480 410435. Also let a member of staff know if you would like your prom tickets to be numbered.

Online solutions: Making collecting in yearbook content quick and easy

Collect yearbook comments and photos easily online

SPC Yearbooks have launched two online tools which will make the whole process of collecting in content for your yearbook far quicker and easier, leaving you more time to concentrate on other activities!

With one online app to help you collect and edit yearbook student comments and another to help collect and organise pictures and other material, both make it really easy to share the task of editing and preparing your yearbook content.

Whether you are the only editor or one of a yearbook team, it’s easy to track changes.  Once all information has been collected in, the SPC Yearbooks team has instant access – no need to send disks or USB drives by post!

The online apps are extremely easy to use and are available to customers using our professional design services or self-designed options (e.g. our Yearbook Creator software, Yearbook Designer Live! online app or your own software).

Collecting individual yearbook comments and photos

SPC Yearbooks can create an online form for you, to make it easy for all students to submit their individual comments and photos.

No logins required! All you have to do is share the link to the form with all the students and let them fill it in and submit. We will give you, the editor, a password so that you can view and edit all the yearbook comments in an online spreadsheet.  You can also quickly view any photos that have been uploaded too.  It’s also easy to share the spreadsheet with other people if you want a larger editorial team.

Your SPC Yearbooks account manager will automatically be an editor of your spreadsheet and is able to quickly see how you’re getting on and if you’re on track for your copy deadline (the date your content is required in so you can receive your yearbooks when you want to receive them).

What do we need to know?
There are a few questions your account manager will need to ask – these questions could perhaps be decided on in one of your first yearbook committee meetings. Here are the questions:

  • Do you want people to answer in a comment box or would you prefer they answer a series of questions? (E.g. What is your nickname? What’s your funniest school memory? What do you want to be remembered for?)
  • If you would like questions, what are these and do want to give individuals the choice of which questions they answer? How many questions does each person need to answer?
  • How many students would you like to have per page? Download our ‘How To’ guide.
  • Do you want individuals to upload a photo of themselves?
  • Do you want us to set up another form for teachers? Perhaps you would prefer to ask them different questions or alternatively, just have a comment box for them.

Once you have answers to these questions, get in touch with your yearbook account manager and ask him/her to set up an online form and editor’s spreadsheet – simple!

Collecting in yearbook content for ‘other pages’ or content generally

SPC Yearbooks have an online workspace where you and selected others can drop yearbook content into various folders. The advantage of having an online workspace is that it’s multi-user, multi-location and again, takes away the hassle of sending content to SPC Yearbooks.  If you decide to use the online form and editor’s spreadsheet, you may also want to use our online workspace for montage photos and content for ‘other pages’.  If you’re not using an online form as well, there’ll be additional folders set up for you in your online workspace where you can insert staff and student comments/photos. Just ask an SPC Yearbooks account manager to share a relevant master folder with you and you can get going collecting in your content right away.

If you wish to learn more about our online solutions to collecting in content, please get in touch via email: yb@spc-yearbooks.co.uk or by phone, 01480 410 435.

Remember to include prom photos in your yearbook…

How to include your prom photos in your school yearbookBreathe a sigh of relief and look forward to your end of year prom! Remember to take lots of photos of each other enjoying the party for your yearbook.

Where other yearbook companies may refuse to accommodate content submitted after a certain deadline, SPC Yearbooks can help you plan for late content. If you are having your yearbook professionally designed, ask us to leave space in the yearbook for events leading up to your delivery date – we can add the new pages quickly without causing delays.

If you are designing your own yearbook, then the same advice applies – get the rest of your pages to us in advance so that we can get those pages checked ahead of time.  For example, if you are designing your yearbook yourself using our online or software application then send a version of your yearbook with future events photo pages left blank. Once you’ve filled the reserved pages with content, resend the whole yearbook to us. With the rest of the book all ready to go, it shouldn’t take long for you or one of our professional designers to put a couple of photo montage pages together, and it shouldn’t take you long to approve them either!

Try to let everyone at the prom know where to send their photos post-event, as many of the year will have left school and will be hard to get hold of. If you have a theme for your prom – for example, a film, a historic event or certain colours – make sure you record this in your yearbook along with the date if you wish. Enjoy your prom and celebrate all of the hard work you’ve put in over the past years!
