Yearbook Page Ideas – Birthdays

Yearbook page ideas birthdaysDuring your time at school, college or university you may have started a birthday book or noted all of your friend’s birthdays on a calendar – have you thought about making a permanent record of birthdays in your yearbook?

Including birthdays in your yearbook is a great way of remembering them whether you stay in touch with your friends forever or get back in touch in the future. Here are a few ideas on how to include birthdays in your yearbook:

Birthdays page

Use a dedicated yearbook page just for people’s birthdays, ask people to supply their birth date and make sure they are happy with this information being published. You could list the birthdays in a formal, alphabetical order or list birthday girls and guys under the month they were born.

Alternatively you could use horoscopes instead of the months with each horoscope’s description. For example, Scorpio – are very determined, reserved, loyal, and secretive…(source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpio_(astrology)).

One of our 2011 yearbook customers included each month’s birth stone on their birthday pages. You could also note in which Chinese New Year they were born. For example, Year of the Ox, Year of the Tiger, etc. – you can find details of each Chinese New Year animal by clicking here.

Birthday profiles

Another idea is to add each person’s birthday onto their yearbook profile page or student comment. This would work particularly well if you are using a question and answer format for your yearbook profile pages, for example:

Name:
Date of Birth:

If you’re designing your own yearbook, decorate your birthday pages with presents, streamers, balloons, cakes, candles, badges, and anything else birthday-related you can think of!

Yearbooks can be memory books for almost anything…

Create a memory book yearbooks are not just for school by SPC YearbooksAt first glance it’s easy to assume that a yearbook is exclusively for schools and university leavers.  However, at SPC yearbooks we recognise that there are some great events and celebrations that can be covered in a book.

While we often create yearbooks to reflect on all the time spent at an educational establishment, by strict definition “A yearbook, also known as an annual, is a book to record, highlight and commemorate the past year” (http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn) so much can happen in a year – what will you want to cover in your memory book?

If you’re taking a gap year you’ll want to be able to reflect on the great times you had on your adventure across the globe.  Why not keep a journal of your travels with your group and share the wonderful experiences you have together.

Anniversaries of charity groups and organisations are another great topic to cover, providing a vast amount of content to use as you look back over the history of your group/organisation.  Gather together photos, collect comments by those involved and document worthy achievements over the past months, years or decades.

Create a retrospective journal for your sports clubs – celebrate years of success and include match reports and any photos of the action.

Make a book as a gift for the staff of your company.  Did you take part in any team-building activities outside of work?  Or organise sponsored events to raise money for charity?  That photo of your boss dressed up as Lady GaGa is a definite for the front cover!

Is your theatre company looking to produce a programme for their next production?  Why not take it a step further and produce something that will engage your audience before they have even sat down – have a time line of the production from start of rehearsals to the finished show.  Share the challenging highs and lows in your own commemorative memory book.

Are you planning a family reunion?  Or researching your family tree?  Publish profiles of each of your relatives, young and old.  You could even produce a book that reflects your circle of friend’s, team’s or family’s year and sell it as a souvenir or memento to your members and their families.

Whatever your project, challenge, holiday or event, we’re sure that your friends, family, colleagues and team would love to see their memories captured in a quality book which they can keep for years to come.
