If you’re designing your own yearbook with a particular theme in mind (you can find plenty scrapbook, music, graffiti, movie, comic book or vintage chic theme ideas in this blog), you’ll want to use stylish fonts for text to complement your yearbook design.
A couple of important points about fonts before you begin experimenting; we know it’s tempting to use a really funky font and realise later on that it’s actually quite hard to read (we’ve all done it). Remember that although you know what it says, the chances are that other people may not. SPC Yearbooks‘ designers recommend using stylish fonts for page titles, page numbers and (possibly) student names.
Pick a reader-friendly font for larger text entries – you’ll probably have fonts such as Arial, Helvetica, Verdana or Calibri on your computer already. Plain fonts are best for teacher comments, school trip reviews, awards descriptions, etc. Also try to pick just one or two stylish fonts to use throughout your yearbook, this will avoid a dis-jointed, mix n’ match look to your yearbook pages.
There are literally millions of fonts to choose from but we’ve picked a few of our yearbook favourites to share with you. All of the fonts we’ve chosen can be downloaded from www.dafont.com and are free!
